Course Description
VISITING: Closed to visitors. TYPE OF CLERKSHIP: Selective 2. DESCRIPTION: Immerse yourself in an advanced clinical experience designed to engage students in the perioperative anesthetic care of patients. As a subintern, you will assume the role of a junior resident, with responsibilities that include evaluating patients preoperatively; devising a safe anesthetic plan; working with the resident and/or attending to prepare the operating room; administering anesthetic medications and performing appropriate procedures under the supervision of the attending; and assisting with management of patients in the postoperative anesthesia care unit. PREREQUISITES: ANES 300A. PERIODS AVAILABLE: 3A-12B, full time for 2 weeks only, 2 students per period. REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS: Students should contact the attending physician they are assigned to work with on the day before the rotation begins. Students should attend grand rounds (in-person or virtual) at 6:30 am on the first day of the rotation. After grand rounds, students should report to their attending physician. Time: 6:30 am.
