Program Overview

The PhD Minor will develop knowledge and skills in Mathematics that complement a PhD student’s primary field. This is achieved through the completion of graduate-level coursework in Mathematics.

The 100-level courses may have been completed during undergraduate study, and their equivalents from other universities are acceptable.

A third coherent sequence designed by the student, subject to the approval of the Director of Graduate Studies, may be considered a substitute for Sequence 1 or 2.

Complete 21 units of Math graduate courses numbered between 200 and 297

The courses must be taken at Stanford for a letter grade and be approved in advance by the Director of Graduate Studies.
