Course Description

Health Career Collaborative Experiential Learning is a new service-learning course for medical, graduate, and undergraduate students interested in expanding the pipeline of underserved youth entering health careers. The course partners with high schools in East Palo Alto through the Health Career Collaborative (HCC), a Stanford Medical School organization. Students will visit Eastside High School and East Palo Alto Academy biweekly to lead interactive workshops introducing students to healthcare professions. Didactic sessions provide time for members to plan workshops, reflect on their experiences, and explore topics in educational equity. Students will gain practical skills in mentorship and community engagement while contributing to diversifying the health career pipeline. Didactic sessions are optional for 1 unit students. Please note that for sessions taking place in East Palo Alto, students will depart campus at 2pm and return by 5pm.
