ARTP-MFA - Art Practice (MFA)

The program provides a demanding course of study designed to challenge advanced students. Participants are chosen for the program based on work that indicates high artistic individuality, achievement, and promise. Candidates should embody the intellectual curiosity and broad interests appropriate to, and best served by, work and study within the university context. 

The curriculum supports experimentation across disciplines, recognizing artistic practice as a form of critical inquiry and research. Students are expected to develop multiple independent bodies of work grounded in conceptual depth, historical awareness, and creative risk-taking while engaging with the pressing social, political, cultural, ecological, and technological questions shaping our contemporary world. Through close faculty mentorship, critical dialogue, and access to the intellectual resources of the university, students refine practices that are informed by multiple fields of knowledge and responsive to the complexities of the present.

Graduates leave the program prepared to make significant contributions to contemporary art and culture. They are equipped to participate in and shape the ongoing conversations of the field, building upon the work of their peer artists, scholars, and cultural practitioners while contributing original perspectives that extend those dialogues.
