Program Overview
The Department of Computer Science (CS) operates and supports computing facilities for departmental education, research, and administration needs. Current CS students have access to a departmental student machine for general use and computer labs in the Gates Building. In addition, most students have access to systems in their research areas.
Each research group in Computer Science has systems specific to its research needs. These systems include workstations, computer clusters, GPU clusters, and local file servers. Servers and workstations running Linux, MacOS, or various versions of Windows are commonplace. Support for coursework and instruction is provided on systems available through University IT (UIT) and the School of Engineering (SoE).

Degree Requirements
The following core courses fulfill the minor requirements. Prerequisites include the standard mathematics sequence through course.
The minimum acceptable GPA for courses within the minor is 2.0
Note: The minor consists of seven courses for students with no programming background and who begin with course.
All courses listed on this form can be included under only one category. There is no double counting.
All courses listed on this form must be taken for a letter grade except courses taken Spring 2019-20, and Autumn 2020-21 through Summer 2020-21.
Neither CS 103 nor CS 109 may be used to fulfill a math or other requirement in another degree program because core courses cannot be double counted. Students using CS 103, 107, or 109 toward their major requirements may select an additional elective course from below as a replacement.
