HSTRY-BA - History (BA)

The Department of History allows for transfer credits in a student’s course of study. To discuss transferable coursework, all students should contact History’s student services officer, Kai Dowding (kdowding@stanford.edu). 

Unless otherwise specified, all coursework requires a syllabus, transcript, and petition form to be submitted to the History Department for review. Please see the History Department website for the relevant petition form.

Students who transfer to Stanford with sophomore status may petition for up to four courses taken outside of Stanford to count toward the major. 

Students who transfer to Stanford with junior status may petition for up to six courses taken outside of Stanford to count toward the major.

Please note that the following major requirements are not transferable:

• Sources & Methods Seminar

• Doing History Colloquium

• Research Seminar for Majors (History 209S)

• Capstone
