1. Independent Project Pathway

• Under the supervision of an approved faculty member, students propose and complete a 3-5 unit capstone project that should either include:

- a 25-page research paper on a human rights topic approved by the supervising faculty; or

- an alternative culminating work requiring equivalent effort, such as an original short film produced by the student, an annotated digital human rights database, a curated exhibit, or a software application designed to address human rights challenges, approved in advance by the supervising faculty.

• Student choosing this option will enroll in HUMRTS 199 to complete a self-designed capstone deliverable by agreed-upon deadlines

• Final capstone is to be graded by the faculty advisor

2. Course Equivalency Pathway

• Submit a proposal to use work you will complete in an existing 3-5 unit course to fulfill the capstone requirement

• Students choosing this option will enroll in an existing course and complete assignments and final projects that will serve as a capstone deliverable

• Final capstone grade is to be assigned by the course instructor
