Program Overview
At the graduate level, the Mechanical Engineering program aligns academic coursework with research to prepare scholars in specialized areas within the field. Areas of specialization range from automatic controls, energy systems, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and solid mechanics to biomechanical engineering, MEMS, and design.
Only PhD students may pursue a PhD minor in Mechanical Engineering to complement their program.

Degree Requirements
A PhD minor in Mechanical Engineering may be obtained by completing 20 units of approved graduate-level ME courses. Courses approved for the minor must form a coherent program and must be chosen from those satisfying the Depth Requirement for the program.
