Program Overview
The undergraduate minor in Middle Eastern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (MELLAC) has been designed to allow students majoring in a variety of departments to gain a substantial introduction to Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish, Middle Eastern, and African languages, and to the cultures and civilizations of the Middle East and Africa. The minor in Middle Eastern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (MELLAC) has five tracks.
Preparing for the Minor
Prior to declaring the minor, students are encouraged to complete the Middle Eastern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures worksheet to the best of their abilities before meeting with the program director, Alexander Key, to approve the plan forward. Once the DLCL Student Service Officer in Pigott Hall, room 128, has received a copy of the signed plan, the student should formally declare the minor in Axess. If any changes need to be made later on, the student should always alert the SSO and program head in case any challenges arise.
