MGTSC-BS - Management Science and Engineering (BS)

Students considering the MS&E major should begin taking courses in calculus, computer science, and economics.

We encourage students to take some MS&E courses in their freshman and sophomore year to learn more about the department. Introductory courses without prerequisites include MS&E 135, 140, 152, 178, 180, and 472. Introductory courses with calculus prerequisites include: MS&E 111, 111DS, 111X, and 120.

We are eager to help in the process of matching you to the major that is most appropriate to your interests and abilities. Therefore, before processing your paperwork as a "declared MS&E major," we would like to provide you with some counseling. Please reach out to MS&E faculty and/or MS&E student services to discuss the major and course planning.

1. Complete the BS Counseling Form (link available to current students only)

2. Go into Axess and declare MS&E as your major. Your declaration will be routed to MS&E Student Services, for approval. Online approval will be given after steps 1-5 are completed. 

3. Select an advisor from the list of available advisors (link available to current students only).

4. Email the counseling form and an unofficial copy of your transcript to your selected MS&E advisor for a declaration advising session, providing them days and times that you are typically available to meet. The session may be in person, or via Zoom. 

5. Email or bring the completed, signed form to MS&E Student Services, who will then approve your online declaration. You will be sent an automatic email from the system after final approval has been given.
