Course requirements must be completed before the student applies for terminal graduate registration (TGR) Status.
In addition to required course work, students pursuing the M.S. in Neurosciences must sit for a qualifying exam that includes a written proposal for a thesis project and oral examination.
All courses used for the Neurosciences M.S. must be taken for a letter grade and passed with a 3.0 (B) or better.
Students must also complete the Stanford Immersive Neurosciences (SIN) Boot Camp and a Data Carpentry Workshop.
Students entering in autumn 2024 or later must complete special sessions in neuroanatomy and do not need to complete NEPR 205. Students entering after autumn 2014 and prior to autumn 2024 must complete NEPR 205: Neurosciences Anatomy Core.
The total number of quarters of NEPR 280: Neuroscience Journal Club and Professional Development Series that are required varies depending on the year a student started the program. For students starting in AY25-26, 3 quarters of NEPR280 are required.
